Soaked Super Cereal - Drinkable Yogurt or Overnight "Oats"

If you don't know, kefir is a probiotic drink very similar to yogurt!
Because of the live and active cultures, it is great for supporting a healthy gut. You can get kefir in a bunch of flavors, but I prefer plain because it is free of any added sweeteners. Plus, it's easy to add your own flavors!

This recipe is great because it's like a porridge and smoothie combined.

It's drinkable, yet still chewable like a yogurt.

This recipe can switch up the traditional porridge, replace overnight oats, or be eaten as a snack!

 Recipe:

*can be made vegan by substituting kefir for non-dairy milk yogurt, water, or non-dairy milk
  1. start with 1/4 cup of super cereal: recipe here
  2. Add kefir, non-dairy milk/yogurt, or water
    • For Drinkable Yogurt: add about a cup or more of liquid - kefir, non-dairy milk, or water (*should be a thin consistency since we are going for drinkable yogurt)
    • Porridge Style: add about 3/4 cup of liquid - kefir, non-dairy milk, or water (*needs to be thick so 3/4 cup kefir + scoop of greek yogurt combined works best*)
  3. add mix ins, optional
  4. mix! (a butter knife works well)
  5. soak for at least 2 hours or over night before consuming
  6. top with additional mix ins if desired

*I like to use mason jars for soaking - i have a couple small, 1 and 1/12 cup sized mason jars (you can use ones leftover from store-bought foods like almond butter jars if they come in glass, or just buy some at a store - so many places offer them now!)

Optional Mix-ins:

*You can add these before or after soaking
  • scoop of greek yogurt, for added protein
  • cinnamon
  • frozen or fresh berries
  • sliced or pureed banana
  • fruit puree
  • nut butters
  • shredded coconut
  • cacao nibs
  • bee pollen
  • honey or maple syrup
  • anything you want!
